About the game
Echoes is a VR adventure you play by listening. It is built from the ground up to be fully playable by blind and low-vision players — and it is open to everyone.
Instead of leaning on what you can see, Echoes places you inside worlds you navigate through richly detailed 3D spatial audio and haptic feedback. Sound is not an accessibility feature bolted on after the fact; it is how the game is played. Footsteps, echoes off unseen walls, the direction of a voice — these are your map, your compass, and your story.
The open beta on Meta Quest includes two complete stories and five hand-crafted levels, plus a community story hub where players create and share their own stories with one another. Beyond the beta, Echoes is growing toward AI-generated narratives and procedural levels — an ever-expanding world shaped, in part, by the people who play it.
Key features
- Play by sound. Full 3D spatial audio is the heart of the experience — you navigate, explore, and follow the story by listening.
- Feel the world. Haptic feedback through the controllers delivers cues and guidance you can feel, not just hear.
- No sight required. Designed from the ground up to be completed by blind and low-vision players. Sight is optional, never required — and the doors are open to everyone.
- Community Story Hub. Players create and share their own stories, and step into stories crafted by others.
- In the beta. Two complete stories and five hand-crafted levels, free on Meta Quest.
- On the horizon. AI-generated narratives and procedural levels are coming with the full release.
From the developer
“The biggest challenge the disabled face is social isolation. I built Echoes to conquer that challenge by giving everyone a voice — to share their own stories and hear others’ — so that no one ever feels alone.”— David Michael Grosso, Lorewright Studios
